Ghosts of Chernobyl


Ghosts of Chernobyl is an twenty-piece 30x45cm series from early 2016. First ever pinhole photographs from Chernobyl exclusion zone. Shot with selfmade 6x9 wide angle camera, hand distressed and treated with different chemicals. It's author's latest work and exhibition is currently touring galleries all over the world. First shown in Wroclaw as a part of 2016 Capital of Culture exhibitions, celebrating 30th anniversary of Chernobyl's catastrophe. Works comes from the restricted and abandoned area - main city of Pripyat and the nearby empty villages. Among most interesting places captured was the “Red Forest” that used to glow red at night because of radioactive dust that fell on it after the explosion. Also, the famous, blown Reactor 4, which is still highly radioactive even 30 years later.
